Native mountain flower seed More details: 'Housekeeping' |
We now have a 'sheep proof' fence around the front part of our base and have sown mountain seeds that fit in with the surrounding area. The seed mix is RE7 Mountain Mix @ £65 per kg. 1kg. |
Webcam More details: 'Information Technology' |
We currently run a webcam at Bryn Poeth (Oggie Base) which proves to be a great asset to us and visitors to our area alike. Sadly our current setup is nearing the end of its life expectancy and requires replacement. We would like to set up several webcams around Oggie Base offering a variety of views, from Tryfan to Pen yr Ole Wen and back along the Ogwen Valley to Capel Curig. To do this we need to invest in a series of new wireless cameras, idealy with one that has night time capability to show what is happening in real time all along the Ogwen Valley. |
Lifelike training mannequin More details: 'Casualty Care' |
This is a lifelike mannequin used for our first aid training. It has 'real life' proportions We would like to thank Jonathan Wilkes of 333 for the purchase of this item. 2 September 2008 |
White board |
We often use white boards or flip charts when planning searches in remote locations. Ours are starting to fall apart so it is time to renew. We would like to thank "Third Sundays Walking Group, Dublin" for the purchase of this item. 28 May2008 |
Color laser printer |
We would like to equip our 'Ops Room' with a colour laser printer for producing documentation that is water proof for use on the mountains during operations. We would like to thank " Third Sundays Walking Group, Dublin" for the purchase of this item. 28 May 2008 |
Pulse oximeter More details: 'Casualty Care' |
A pulse oximeter allows our first aiders to measure the amount of oxygen in a casualty's blood along with the pulse. It is a very useful diagnostic instrument and this unit has a small size and weight ideal for our working environment. We would like to thank Fred South for donating this item. |
Bench seat |
We would like to place a bench seat in front of base for the use of visitors (and base ops on a sunny day). This one is made from recycled plastic. More details here This has kindly been donated by Fred South |
Lightweight defibrillator More details: 'Casualty Care' |
Access AED is the smallest and lightest full energy AED available. The Access AED 's main selling point is its compact size and portability. |
Computer chairs |
We tend to end up with cast-off chairs that nobody wants anymore (normally for a good reason). We would like to equip our computer desks with some suitable chairs. Kindly donated by Mr Paul Hooper which Paul did not realise are also in the team colours of blue and orange. |
LCD projector |
This item has kindly been purchased for the team. The purchaser has the following message. 'From those who miss Richard Elliott, who continues to project his rays of light to help others who share his passion'. |
Plain paper fax machine |
This has kindly been donated by Bentek. |
Multi-fuel stove |
After a wet, cold night out on a rescue it is nice to come back to base to be greeted by a warm fire to dry out and recover around. The stove will adequately heat our crew room and can burn a variety of fuels. We have received donations to purchase this item. Many thanks The photo shows the stove installed and working in our crew room. |
Stainless steel flask / cup |
We would like to equip each active member with such a flask/cup, with 10 held at base for taking on callouts for casualties. |
Cross cut shredder More details: 'Communications' |
Most of the paperwork we generate is confidential to say the least and therefore we shred as much as we can, as soon as we can. Sadly our existing Shredder is no more and we are left to tearing and burning to ensure all our information is destroyed. With a busy operations room downstairs and one upstairs for when things get very busy it would be good to replace our shredders with something more substantial than the domestic ones we had before. If you can help out then it really would make a big difference to us and the way we operate. We would like to thank Caroline Warren for the purchase of this item. |
Manual Fill Water Boiler More details: 'Housekeeping' |
We all know that everything can be solved with the aid of a good cuppa. When we are working or training at Oggie base we all love a cuppa to sustain us and generally a domestic kettle is fine. However when there is a big rescue or a large group on training the humble kettle does not match up to the job in hand and that's where a water boiler will come to the rescue. It is ideal for countertop use in most catering establishments so it should fit right in at Oggie base. Fully welded stainless steel construction for easy cleaning and greater hygiene. Durable and robust for long working life. What could be more appropriate for all those situations requiring a hot cuppa at the end of a job. |
Palm 800 BA195 More details: 'Swift Water Rescue' |

The high density foam flotation also provides a high degree of insulation to the body core and reduced risk of hypothermia on cold weather call outs. The key design feature of the Rescue 800 is the rescue harness which is both releasable and will accommodate a cowtail to enable self attachment. It's high visibility design and multi sizing capacity makes it ideal for use as part of the specialist equipment required by the rescue professional.
